Visiting Kunskapsgymnasiet

In January, I visited two different Kunskapsgymnasiet, which was a very worthwhile experience. I noticed a few interesting things:

• The students are real ambassadors of the school. After a few minutes inside the building I already got an offer for a guided tour from a student with an enthusiastic story about how the school operates

• To me, students seem to be truly satisfied with the atmosphere at the school. For example, they like the walls of glass for a transparent set-up, the large amount of free-time to work for themselves and the intervision classes. They feel safe and are very happy with the teachers’ attention paid to personal interaction and their development

• The principal and teachers presented the Kunskapsskolan concept from a “why” perspective. Most of the time they spent explaining their philosophy and ideas behind the programme very convincingly and then about “how”, “who” and “what”.
